When it comes to a smart thermostat you really have to put it to the test. So I will be putting my EcoBee3 Lite to the test to see if its really worth the money and time.
– As of April 6, 2017 – Xcel Energy is providing FREE EcoBee3 Lite’s all you have to do is sign up for the AC Rewards program (don’t worry you can unenroll anytime). Check it out HERE
The Ecobee 3 lite has been in our home for roughly 2 months now. When I first setup the Ecobee 3 lite I had some issues connecting it to the Xcel Energy Smart Home Portal, I’m pretty sure it was my routers fault. Secondly within the first few days the Ecobee 3 lite would disconnect from HomeKit and randomly go offline, once again my router! (We did switch ISP’s).
All together I have not had any serious issues with a good ISP. Many of the feature I enjoy are the ability to control your Ecobee 3 lite from your phone either using the Ecobee app or a enabled HomeKit device. Secondly Integration with our various Google Homes have been fantastic! I don’t use this feature as much as I wish, It still has never failed me.
To sum this article I enjoy my EcoBee 3 lite. It is defiantly a great upgrade from the traditional non programable thermostat.
Rating 7/10 – Great for families who are getting started with Home Automation
Pros: HomeKit, Ease of use, has a mobile app, has technical support
Cons: Works better with certain routers and ISP’s, mobile app’s limitability, square touch screen rather than a edge to edge display.
Would I recommend: Yes
